My Answer to: “Are the black areas in London safe?”

London, capital of The UK, is home to one of the most diverse communities in the world. Nearly 1/3 of Londoners were born abroad, and over 200 languages are spoken here. This wide range of cultures and languages is celebrated in London in many different ways – mainly with fantastic food and lively festivals.

The city of London is a safe place for people of all ethnicity and faiths to be.

With a whole host of diverse cultures comes a lot of delicious food! Restaurants and street stalls around London allow you to try out some new foods as well as treating yourself to some of your chosen dishes.

The heart and soul of London is owed to its multicultural population – without these great people, London just wouldn’t be the same!

Chinese Tourists are being told to avoid areas of London ‘populated by Indians, Pakistanis and black people’ in a Chinese in-flight magazine.

Wings of China, the in-flight magazine for Air China, made the ‘racist’ remark in a travel article on the city of London.

The article, written in both English and Chinese, said: ‘London is a safe place to travel. However, precautions should be taken when entering areas mainly populated by Indians, Pakistanis, and black people.’

Air China is Asia’s operates twice daily flights between London and Beijing.

Chinese journalist Haze Fan tweeted a picture of the advice after reading the magazine while traveling with colleagues on Tuesday.

Let me just say that this is offensive to all Londoners.

We pride ourselves on having a beautifully diverse community, and this may indicate people come here with another idea, it is disturbing that some may come concerned.

The Chinese Ambassador should visit Brixton, Tooting, Streatham or anywhere else in London. In these areas, all races live side by side. So they can understand how we live in our well diverse community.
