Don’t put away your flip flops just yet; temperatures will soar in the UK this week due to a ‘subtropical swell’.
Autumn might just be around the corner, but it looks like we’ll have one more burst of summer this week. And after a gloomy weekend, this is the news we’ve all been waiting. Thanks to a 600-mile ‘subtropical swell’ and warm air sweeping across the Atlantic, the British weather will rival many tourist hotspots in Spain. There is no place like home.
Warm temperatures, piercing sunshine and stuffy nights are all on the cards for the next few days. The fantastic weather will commence (believe it or not) today (September 8), with temperatures touching 20°C all over England. By Wednesday temperatures will soar to 24°Cin the South East, and it is expected to last throughout the week. Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze has said that the UK may even experiences highs of 26°C at some point, so have your suncream ready!
Met Office meteorologist Greg Dewhurst said, “In terms of temperature it will be warmer, and we could see highs of 24C across East Anglia down to London”. These are unusually high temperatures for September, but we’re not going to complain! It may be the last glimpse of summer until 2021, so make the most of it.
